Resilience PAC is a Political Action Committee dedicated to electing candidates who will ensure New York City is prepared for a changing climate. Our goal is to preserve the diverse communities and ecologies that contribute to New York’s unique character and quality of life and to ensure that New Yorkers across the five boroughs are able to pursue safe and healthy lives in the context of climate change.
Communities around the world are already experiencing the effects of climate change. In New York City, that means extreme heat and humidity, heavy downpours, droughts, extreme winds, and cold snaps. To add to that challenge, NYC will experience one to two feet of sea level rise by 2050, and up to six feet by 2100.
Local government has so far addressed this problem with a piecemeal approach that combines rebuilding from Hurricane Sandy with new zoning codes, building codes and policies that have not yet matched the need to comprehensively rethink how our city will adapt to this challenge. We need leaders who will act smarter and faster to ensure that all communities can thrive in the future. We can achieve this by electing representatives who will pledge to make adapting to climate change a priority, before they are elected.
Join us in building the first political action group to ensure that New York City adapts to climate change thoughtfully and equitably so that New Yorkers can thrive.
