Deborah is an urban planner focused on sustainable development and economic equity. Most recently, as the Executive Director of Resiliency Policy, Planning, and Acquisitions at the New York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development, Deborah created a new team, focused on the development and operation of programs to lead aggressive climate change adaption in affordable housing including the recovery of housing damaged by Hurricane Sandy; holistic community planning initiatives linking disaster recovery to address long-term needs; and the management of a property buyout program. Deborah recently completed a Loeb Fellowship at the Harvard Graduate School of Design and is interested in opportunities to connect climate adaptation to initiatives in economic development, community revitalization, and affordable housing or addressing other multi-dimensional/multi-sectoral challenges. Deborah is a fourth generation New Yorker raised in Queens but now calls Brooklyn home.
